Jan 26American Idol Winner Carrie Underwood Talks About Her Grammy Nominations and “Special” Performance
American Idol winner Carrie Underwood’s star has been on an epic rise ever since she won the show in season 4. The gorgeous country singer was recently added to perform at this year’s 2013 Grammy Awards, which only seems her due considering she has five of them at home already and is nominated for several more. The Tennessean caught up with her at a recent press event at which all the Nashville nominees gathered to celebrate.
“I have a little something special planned,” she said in the interview, adding that “it feels good” to be a nominee. The (relative) newlywed said she’s really had a chance to grow with her new album and the fans “are loving it.” She’s also thrilled that her new single, “Blown Away,” earned her songwriters Chris Tompkins and Josh Kear a grammy nod for “Best Country Song,” on top of a grammy nomination for “Best Country Solo Performance”.
“I loved the song the first time I heard it. I feel very lucky to have gotten my hands on it before anybody else.” In fact, she explains, “It was such an epic song, that it just made sense to name my album [after it].”
